Why Omaya

The decision followed seeing the boat in person. The Omaya 50 is a genuinely well-built yacht — the quality of the finish, the joinery and the detailing are a level above what the segment usually offers at this size, and the design is modern without being awkward to live with.

That matters because the 50ft motor catamaran market is thin. There is plenty of choice in sailing catamarans and plenty of choice above 60ft, but very few purpose-built motor catamarans of this quality in the 50ft range. For an owner who wants the space, stability and shallow draft of a multihull without the sails, the Omaya 50 fills a real gap.

We also visited the shipyard in Silistra, on the Danube, before committing. Omaya build at their own Elica Yard, a 15,000 sqm composite and shipbuilding facility, which gives them control over the whole build rather than subcontracting it out. Seeing the moulds, the lamination shop and boats in build is the clearest indication of whether a young brand can actually deliver — and the set-up there is impressive.

The headline figure is the beam: 8.39m on a 14.98m hull, the widest in its class. That translates into an unusually large saloon, wide side decks and full-beam sunbeds forward, with 156 m² of living space overall.

Roof-mounted solar panels on the flybridge and hardtop allow long periods at anchor without running the generator, and the hydraulic high/low aft platform gives direct access to the water for swimming and tender launching.

The Omaya 50 made its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, where it won the Revelation of the Year trophy at the World Yachts Trophies and was shortlisted for Best Exterior Design (Catamaran). It has since been nominated for European Powerboat of the Year 2026. Larger models are already in development.
